Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer who hails from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. In October of 2016, Ari Lennox released her Pho EP. It was here that she was recognized. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The album was released in May 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012, with the release of her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. The singer continued uploading her music online in 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes and on Sweat It Out July 21st in 2015. J. Cole was interested by her talent and was looking to work in conjunction with Rihanna. On December 28, 2008 it was announced that Rihanna had hired with Dreamville Records. Backseat was the result of her participation to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. Her Pho EP was released on her debut EP, on the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change, and she performed in the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as the opening act. In 2018, she appeared in two of her songs with label-mates EarthGang for Nothing but the Best. And Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first track Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. A music clip was released, followed by a music video September. On November 9 she dropped two more singles, forty Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. In November, 13 the singer released two new singles entitled One and Pdigree. One as well as Pdigree. The singer appeared alongside Cole on her Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby On November 16, and then released the song as a solo single for her first album. The track was accompanied by the music video which debuted on February 20 2019 that surpassed three million views on YouTube in its first seven days. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December of 2018.
